To Mayan Beach Garden From Cancun:
Take
the main highway (307) south out of Cancun. The concrete highway follows
the coast and continues to Tulum. After Tulum the road veers away
from the coast and goes around the Sian Ka'an nature reserve. You'll
note the landscape change as you drive closer to the jungle. Continue
on to Filipe Carrillo Puerto. You can get gas in this town and take
advantage of the wonderful snacks that the locals sell at the gas
station. If you have time, stop at the market there, its a good example
of a traditional Mexican market. Continue on 307 through the small
town of Limones. Four kilometers past Limones, turn left to Mahahual
at the Cafetal junction. It is well marked. Drive about 54 kilometers.
Approximately 200 meters past the PEMEX gas station
take the first road left which is poorly marked.
(NOTE: If you get all the way to the lighthouse, you've missed the
turn off.) Follow the road about 9.2 kilometers. Turn right at the first Road you see after km 9 marker. Turn left when the road makes a "T"and go another 10 km. Mayan Beach Garden
will be on your right.
From
Chetumal to Mayan Beach Garden:
Head
West out of Chetumal until you reach highway 307. The road is well
marked. Turn right and continue past Bacalar. You will come to the

fruit. Shortly after the little town you will see the turnoff to Mahahual.

Conditions: (updated 2 - June. -10)
- There is construction
in Playa Del Carmen . They are adding bridges in Playa del Carmen that will eventually make driving quicker. Please watch for
construction workers and detours.
- The highway south
of Tulum is being widened and for the most part is a beautiful stretch of road. There isn't too much activity along this
stretch. If
driving in the dark, please slow down and watch for pedestrians along
this stretch who may be wearing dark clothing.
- The road from
junction at 307 to the turnoff to Mahahual is great but it is missing
signs due to Dean (still)!
- The paved road to Uvero
is in good condition with only a few potholes, but signage is poor. Please watch for this area and slow down around curves.
- The beach road
from Rio Indio to Pulticub is in excellent condition having been recently graded.
- The road to and
From Chetumal is a concrete highway however there is some repair work going on - make sure and slow down around these areas. Please watch the Topes when you go through towns.
